Vacation's Over

Summer's winding down, the air is a little cooler, the humidity isn't as thick, and school starts next week.  Translation:  creating vacation over, jewelry making resumes.  I always think I'll be able to make more jewelry during the summer as we are on a much looser schedule, I don't have to drive kids here and there, and can stay up late in my studio making as much as I want.

But who am I kidding?  That never happens.  What really happens is the sports practices and games kick in and we are actually in the car more visiting family.  And the boys are home all the time and the blessed mess increases exponentially.  And my word, The Star Wars Legos are EVERYWHERE.  It's like the Rebel Alliance blew the Death Star up in my family room.

I do write down the design ideas I have to come back to at a later date.  All this to say the later date has arrived and I've begun making some of the new designs.  Here's the first, I made 17 of these guys:

Crystal, speckled, pink, brown, green, yellow, and peach jasper nuggets

Vintage copper and brass tassels, brass crosses, and old rhinestones

Vintage copper and brass etched chain

Next up:  Edgy handmade solid brass bangless with cool dangles.  Great for layering with other bracelets for that Arm Party everyone's been talking about.

New Store

Great News! Les Filles Boutique in Louisville, KY is now carrying In Small Spectacles pieces.  One of the owners, Melissa, got in touch with me after a mutual customer of ours stopped by her boutique and showed her one of my etched brass vintage shoe clip cuffs.  Turns out Melissa and I have a lot in common:  a love for dogs, jewelry/accessories, and BLING!

Les Filles specializes in handmade, artisan accessories, so you'll see a wonderful variety of handbags and jewelry from several different artists all with different styles to choose from.  Make sure you give yourself enough time so you can linger in this beautiful boutique!

I hope you have an opportunity to check out this store that is top-rated in the Louisville area!

Vintage Rhinestone Shoe Clips

I had two great weekends of fabulous art shows, one outside Louisville, KY and another in historic Lebanon, Ohio.  By far the favorite things were my vintage rhinestone shoe clip etched cuffs which are edgy without being dark or weird.  I love the juxtaposition of the clean and bright bling of the rhinestones set against the rough and worn brass cuffs.

I etch 1" solid brass cuffs with gothic script, tapestry designs, florishes, or tiles....

...and add vintage metal tassels, rhinestones, lockets, and brass crosses on one end.

They hang so nicely and make a smashing profile that catches the eye but is actually very user-friendly.

I met some great artists and some opportunities developed for new stores to carry In Small Spectacles pieces.  So excited!  I'll let you know which ones they are once details are finalized.  I'm also in the process of listing more pieces in the Etsy Shop, so check back to see those.

Thanks for stopping by!

Arts on the Green

I had a fabulous time at the Arts on the Green Art Festival this weekend.  The crowds were steady and everyone was so very friendly and truly interested in all the different mediums of art presented.  A big shout out to the Lord for providing us with perfect weather!

My next Show is this Saturday, June 9th at the Warren County Festival of the Arts in beautiful Lebanon, Ohio from 10-5.  Hope to see you there!
