Vintage Rhinestone Shoe Clips

I had two great weekends of fabulous art shows, one outside Louisville, KY and another in historic Lebanon, Ohio.  By far the favorite things were my vintage rhinestone shoe clip etched cuffs which are edgy without being dark or weird.  I love the juxtaposition of the clean and bright bling of the rhinestones set against the rough and worn brass cuffs.

I etch 1" solid brass cuffs with gothic script, tapestry designs, florishes, or tiles....

...and add vintage metal tassels, rhinestones, lockets, and brass crosses on one end.

They hang so nicely and make a smashing profile that catches the eye but is actually very user-friendly.

I met some great artists and some opportunities developed for new stores to carry In Small Spectacles pieces.  So excited!  I'll let you know which ones they are once details are finalized.  I'm also in the process of listing more pieces in the Etsy Shop, so check back to see those.

Thanks for stopping by!

Arts on the Green

I had a fabulous time at the Arts on the Green Art Festival this weekend.  The crowds were steady and everyone was so very friendly and truly interested in all the different mediums of art presented.  A big shout out to the Lord for providing us with perfect weather!

My next Show is this Saturday, June 9th at the Warren County Festival of the Arts in beautiful Lebanon, Ohio from 10-5.  Hope to see you there!

Art Fest on the Levee

I wanted to let you know I will be at the Art Fest on the Levee in Newport, KY this Saturday until the evening.  Please note, though, that it is only one day this year.  I have several new pieces and designs I'm excited to show.  I always love explaining to people what I've been up to in my spare time (what's that?!), and I like to think people are interested in all of the elements of the pieces they take home.

I hope to see you this weekend!

As you can tell, I'm not very good about keeping up-to-date with this blog lately.  I do, however, have a boatload of really good excuses why (and I'll spare you the details as one involves a family wide stomach virus lasting 3 WEEKS), so don't give up on me yet!

In preparation for the upcoming Spring/Summer shows, I've been busy making lots of new pieces.  I just listed several multi-layered charm bracelets full of rhinestone bling and solid brass vintage crosses and lockets:

 Chocolate pearls

Colorful gemstones

Rhinestone embellished brass cross

Garnet and vintage Japanese brass tube chain

Beautiful freshwater pearls

Solid brass vintage beads with serpent toggle clasp

Sacred medals and vintage book chain

Vintage metal tassel and antique round brass locket

I absolutely love layers.  I love them in my wardrobe, in food, in tablescapes and home decor, and in my jewelry.  I love to layer lots of bracelets on one arm, and the new bracelets take the guesswork out of which bracelets to layer;  they eliminate the need to buy multiple pieces as you get several with each single bracelet.

Keep checking back as I add to the list of upcoming shows.  The next one is the Art on the Levee Art Fest in Newport, KY on May 5th.

Thanks for taking the time to check in!

New Necklaces

I just made several new necklaces using some of the various colored jasper nuggets I got this summer.  Since they are nuggets, they are a rougher cut and don't have the shiny facets seen in crystals and other kinds of stones.  It was kind of a fluke, or a shopping coup as I like to call it, how I got them so I didn't want to just throw them into any design.  I knew I wanted to give them a little bling while still highlighting that they are natural stones.  I also wanted them to match other longer In Small Spectacles pieces.  So I paired them with other semi precious stones, rhinestones, and solid brass vintage beads and wired them into a classic design shorter than most of my other necklaces and here's what I came up with:

green jasper, jade, quartz, freshwater pearl, brass, rhinestones

white jasper, freshwater pearl, mother of pearl, vintage crystal, czech glass, brass, rhinestone

pink jasper, chocolate freshwater pearls, tigers eye, vintage glass, czech glass, brass, rhinestone

black jasper, black onyx, black freshwater pearls, mother of pearl, brass, rhinestones

I also listed some earrings earlier today....

...and a couple bracelets....

....and I'm off to make more on this surprisingly quiet Saturday afternoon!

Thanks for stopping by!
